Travel & Stay

Location:

Fife, Scotland

Our wedding will take place in Scotland, United Kingdom. More specifically, we’ll be celebrating just a little north of Edinburgh, in the beautiful and storied region of Fife. Nestled between the Firth of Forth and the North Sea, this area is known for its charming coastal villages, rolling countryside, and deep-rooted Scottish heritage. Whether you're flying in from afar or traveling locally, we're so grateful you're making the journey to join us.

Venue:

Cambo Estate

The Erskine family has been welcoming guests to Cambo Country House & Estate for the last 350 years. With the picturesque coastal villages of the East Neuk to the south and the historic university city of St Andrews to the north, the estate is a hidden gem in the Kingdom of Fife.

The house is surrounded by grassy parkland and is protected on all sides by ancient woodlands, which run down to one of the most celebrated beaches in Scotland.

Getting There

Flights

We recommend flying into Edinburgh International Airport (EDI).

It’s the closest major airport to our venue and the most convenient option for reaching Fife. Edinburgh Airport is located only 6 miles from Edinburgh city centre and 60 miles (90 min drive) from our venue.

Driving

Cambo Estate is set in the beautiful rural countryside of Fife, about 60 miles drive north of Edinburgh. While Scotland has great public transportation between major cities, getting to the venue (and exploring the surrounding area) is much easier with a car.

Because of the distance and limited rural transport options, we strongly encourage guests to rent a car for convenience and flexibility during your stay. It will give you the flexibility to explore nearby towns, scenic coastal routes, and everything the area has to offer at your own pace.

If you'd rather not drive, staying in St Andrews and using local taxis to get to and from the venue is your best bet.

Where do I rent a car from?

Train

Leuchars is the closest rail stop and serves St Andrews, the nearest major town to our venue. It offers direct train connections from Edinburgh Waverley and other major Scottish cities. From Leuchars, buses to St Andrews run every 10 minutes, and taxis are also available.

How do I book train tickets?

Accomodation

Cambo Estate is located in a rural area of Fife, so there aren’t many large hotels nearby. Instead, we recommend looking for places to stay in the charming nearby towns below. You’ll find a mix of small hotels, inns, and plenty of Airbnbs within a 15-minute drive of the venue. We recommend booking something close we’re planning three days of celebration at the venue (see schedule here).

If you’re traveling in a group, booking a nearby Airbnb might be a great option — many homes in the area are ideal for sharing. You can find a map search with the region and dates here.

St Andrews

Best option if you're not renting a car. It has a wide range of hotels, reliable local taxis, and more shops, restaurants, and things to do than the smaller surrounding towns. Approximate 15-minute drive to Cambo.

Anstruther

A small picturesque coastal town. Great option if you’re renting a car. Approximate 15-minute drive to Cambo.

Kingsbarns

Closest town to the venue. Very small and quiet. Approximate 5-minute drive or 25-minute walk to Cambo.

Explore the Area

We’ve put together an interactive map to help you make the most of your time in Fife. It includes our recommendations for accommodation, restaurants, pubs, and things to do in and around St Andrews and the surrounding area.

Whether you’re staying for the weekend or turning the trip into a holiday, we hope this guide helps you explore and enjoy this beautiful corner of Scotland.
